Alfred Virnich

Dr Alfred Virnich has a doctorate in chemistry and specialises in environmental consulting. Today, he is the contact person for the CO2 footprint calculation of companies at the Industrial Association for Finishing, Yarns, Fabrics and Technical Textiles. He studied at the RWTH Aachen University, where he wrote his diploma thesis on “Changes in chemical and physical properties during the dyeing of wool”. He completed his doctorate with a dissertation on the post-chromisation dyeing of wool.
His professional career began with a focus on the textile industry and later centred specifically on technical textiles. He was responsible for research in various companies and was particularly involved in the environmental sector. He has been a publicly appointed and sworn expert for the fields of “textile technology” and “textile chemistry” at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for almost 25 years. He also speaks five languages.
