Holds the post of Section Head (Electrical) and founder and Director of the IDEAM Research Institute at TUS. John is a lead researcher in Intelligent Systems and Digitalisation of Manufacturing and has been with the Institute since 1998. John’s Doctorate in Engineering (2028) was awarded for his work on Data Analytics for Energy Management in Industry in March 2018. John has led and/or collaborated on competitive project funding of over €60m with over €20m awarded to TUS. John is a Director of the FactoryxChange EDIH, the Smarter Factory Technology Gateway, the AEPIC Project, the IDEAM Industry Project, the DigiWIND Project and was co-ordinator of a large multi-partner project (TEMPO 2011-2015). In Academic terms, John has contributed to 45+ international conference /journal publications and has supervised 25 postgraduate dissertations, many in collaboration with Industry. In addition, he works with the European Commission as an Expert Reviewer and Evaluator in a range of EU Research Programme, including Horizon Europe, H2020, Marie Skłodowska-Curie, ECSEL JU and the Factories of the Future PPP.
